Call for Volunteers

We need volunteers on the day of WordCamp! What’s involved? For this virtual conference the volunteer roles are emcee, chat moderator, and happiness bar helper.

We have 2 presentation tracks and are asking for a commitment for a half day (morning or afternoon) for emcees and chat moderators. Happiness bar gurus have more flexibility in the time commitment.

Thanks for your willingness in helping to make the day a success!

Timeframes are:
1st half: 9:30am to 11:30am and 12:30pm to 1:30pm
2nd half: 2:30pm to 5:30pm

  • (4) Emcee – Introduce Camp speakers at the start of each talk. Asks follow up questions from attendees. Qualifications include speaking in front of a large virtual group, reading from a script, switching presenters between you and the speaker, and bringing your own energy and enthusiasm to the group!
  • (4) Chat moderator – Monitor live discussions and ensure all participants follow the WordCamp Code of Conduct. Directs questions to the questions tool for emcee to read aloud during Q&A. Qualifications include reading lots of chat comments, understanding the WordPress Code of Conduct and being willing to uphold it in the rare case of an inappropriate comment, and engaging with the attendees!
  • Happiness Bar gurus – Help Camp attendees with their WordPress questions. Qualifications include intermediate or advanced WordPress skills, being able and willing to teach and troubleshoot with others, and sharing your love for WordPress!

Send an email to wordcamprochester@gmail.com with the roles you are willing to fulfill and the time frame (1st half or 2nd half).
